Highway star

A good friend of mine announced today that he was going on an unplanned backpacking road trip across the country just because he wanted to know what it feels like to dive into the ice cold sea and I'm wondering why I never had guts like that.

  4. ADVENTURE! I would be packed and ready to go in a heartbeat if I had that opportunity.

    GET ON IT, SON!

  5. @Gark, ROFL: But we're young and should do something with that youth!
    @Lana: Oh, thank you, Lana! :)
    @Killer, Fighthesky: I can't, college. :S

  6. I wonder if you'd have any testicles after that?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Good point; I'd probably have to fish them out later. :D

    ReplyDelete
  8. People do that here all of the time, fucking crazy if you ask me! You're not missing a thing! :D

  9. I live east coast practically right on the beach, and trust me it sucks! feels like pins and needles poking into you as you jump in

  10. Perhaps you are just smarter than him.

  11. @BCCB: I wanna believe you but... :S
    @tyrone: Maybe he gets a heart attack then! :D

  12. @Banacek: I like your point of view. :)

  13. That's pretty hardcore. I could never do something spontaneous like an unplanned trip. Funny story nonetheless.

  14. That's pretty cool. I've done some crazy stuff like that back in the day, now I'm just an old working shmuck that thinks about things before doing them :D

  16. You have the guts , you just don't know it

    ReplyDelete
  17. Its not guts, it sounds like your friend is also a walrus. Im not about to jump into any cold water and neither should you.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, I don't know how it is in other countries, but in Poland we've got group of people called 'walruses' and they do that in sea and not-yet-frozen lakes. There is always some record in TV when they do that. Crazy people.

  19. could be doing with that, i love my balls to much.

  20. The reason is that he doesn't need guts, he needs curiosity. When you see the trek as a thing of wonder and amazement, it becomes exciting but when you see it as obstacles and the unknown, it becomes scary. It's all in how you frame it. He will find adventure if he seeks it.

  21. @99: Hardcore it is. :S
    @Justsayin', 123: :D
    @Jordan: That's how I comfort myself. :S
    @6: Thank you! :)
    @Snickelsox: But it's an adventure. You should do those while you're young. :S
    @90: Here in Croatia we also have those but we don't call them anything specific. :D
    @Autumn: This actually makes me feel worse. :D :S

    ReplyDelete
  22. You just gotta go and do it, its scary, but its kind of a rush.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I wish I could. But I can't just go ahead and say "brb" due to college.

  24. There are a lot of things that I wonder why I don't have the guts to do it...

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's harder for some to just 'uproot' like that. I always wanted to, but my home is like gravity; Too strong to break away.

    ReplyDelete
  26. same thing here... i really wanted just to go backpack somewhere else for a while..

    ReplyDelete
  27. My goal was to swim in the sea, while it's lightly storming (lots of rain, quite a bit of wind, not too much). I did it, and the water was warmer than the land, because the wind doesn't blow underwater 8D

  35. You could call it guts. You could call it cowardice, dropping everything for a life on the road. All depends on how you look at it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Got you covered :) Simplistic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Metatron: Never looked at it that way. :)
    @Saus: I hope you like it! :)

  38. True...It reminds me on a picture on which is say:
    "I always wonder why birds choose to stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth.

    Then I ask myself the same question."
