I was going through my old, dusty, forgotten winamp playlists folder on my old, dusty, forgotten used- to- be- a- beast- PC and came to a surprising revelation: I listened to way better music back in highschool than I do now. :s
Oh dear, I know that feel. Although I kind of have the opposite problem, there are a ton of bands I need to check out but I don't really have the time/money/internet to cheeck 'em out properly.
Happened me the exact same thing, i was going through some boxes in my closet, i found out a bunch of AWESOME cd's i havent listened in years. There were some gems there like 4 or 5 Zappa albums a bunch from Black Sabbath and so on...you get the idea.
i happen to think the reverse. i used to listen to a lot of poppy bull shit but i've grown and found myself slipping into jazz, live rock, singer/song writer and good underground hip hop (cause i'm gangsta). www.thepenguingazette.blogspot.com
I find my tastes have diversified but also concentrated at the same time. I like more niche music compared to the old classic rock I used to dig. I think it's just a matter of naturally growing tired of it and looking for something different, which naturally brings you to some esoteric styles.
Thanks for the kind words! Your posts are very entertaining! Thank god I have better taste in music now--I think I was listening to N'SYNC and Smashmouth back then= pathetic!
Nice post!
ReplyDeletehahaha I know that feel. I kinda hate the mainstream music now. all auto tune and stuff.
ReplyDeleteYeah same here :p

ReplyDeletediscovering old music is fun :)
ReplyDeleteGood music gets better with age, so today’s crap will often turn out to be tomorrows must listen to retro brilliance ….
ReplyDeleteYeah, music was better back in the 90's and early 2000's. Wait, when did you go to high school?
ReplyDeleteI love how short and easy and fast these posts are to read.

ReplyDeletebut...MTV doesn't show music at all anymore...
ReplyDeleteSo much crap music now.. :( I barely bother to turn on the radio anymore
ReplyDeleteLots of crap music now, although it makes finding good stuff much more rewarding.
ReplyDeleteThe music industry is overly saturated in every music category today. If I want music, I turn on pandora and go back in time! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I only listened to Pearl Jam's Ten on repeat.
ReplyDeleteahaha i totally agree, i'm getting to used to bad music ya know, I can't tell from the good anymore :P

ReplyDeleteYeah, I blame MTV too! Though I don't really watch it...
ReplyDelete@all: I can't remember when was the last time I saw a guitar on MTV. -.-' And, btw, the dude above isn't Zappa; it's Eric Clapton, the God himself! :)

ReplyDeleteI'm a product of the '80s...just doesn't get better than that decade! Now the styles...that's a whole different story. :)
