Language help!

As some of you may (or may not) know, I'm always looking for ways to improve myself. A good way to do such a thing is to learn new languages.
I noticed that most of my followers speak fluent English but have some other mother tongue.

So, what I'd like you to do is to tell me how I could learn your native language on- line. I don't have much spare cash at the moment to pay for foreign language classes and, in all honesty, I think that's something one can learn using alternative sources.

So, if you know any good links that could help me learn your language, post away; I'm especially interested in French, German, Spanish and Italian. :)

  2. I couldn't help you buddy but good luck in your language learning quest. It's great to always expand your knowledge in that way. I'd love to learn Spanish and to do that in the future I'd probably just Google "how to learn Spanish and let things snowball from there. Good luck!

  4. There's this Software called Rosetta stone just search it here http://www.kat.ph/search/rosetta%20stone/. I recommend you learn Filipino because I my self is one and our humor is kind of cool. But using Rosetta there probably is lots of options for you, Good luck!

  5. I think the best language to learn would be Spanish. Like Dilord said, Rosetta Stone seems to be the GOTO for language learning at home.

  6. Yeah Rosetta stone is awesome but not the simplest set up if you go with that option. For Spanish I know there's books (or e-books) that teach you a simple set of words that you can learn more words with. In other words they teach you just some basic words, easy to remember, and with those and constant use you'll learn the rest. I just wish I could remember the name..

  7. hmm...will leave it up to others to point you in the right direction...english mostly but i know just enough french, spanish and latin to get me in trouble...

  8. I would suggest German--it's the closest relative of English, so would probably be the easiest to learn. I can actually understand German pretty well just from having a roommate who watched a lot of German porn. It had no subtitles--I just kind of figured out what they were saying....

I also taught myself to read Latin by getting a Latin bible and reading it with an English one to help translate.

So... maybe just watch a lot of German porn online? :D

  9. Heres something that worked for a friend of mine: He watched french TV for hours on end and would repeat what they said with out knowing what they where saying. Then a month later he started learning french and he found it so easy to say things accurately!
Although that doesn't take into account how to actually learn but it was a good build up to when he started to learn. (he listened to tapes on how to speak french to learn)

  14. I think you have a really bad misconception. I think you can grasp basic vocabulary and elementary grammar of a foreign language by doing classes and/or online courses, but honestly you won't be able to converse unless you immerse yourself in that specific environment.

I'm sure Youtube and the "For Dummies" book series can teach you a lot for a relatively low price (or free as in youtube). Otherwise, make the investment. The best way to do this is to spend a vacation in a country where your foreign language is commonly spoken.

  15. i'd suggest movies and youtube because they are FREE ^_^ and if you've got followers who speak those language you mentioned haggle to have them teach you even for a few minutes on skype... again that would be FREE!! whee~ ^___^

  17. I'm fluent in English and sarcasm. Feel free to pay me to teach you the sarcasm. :)

    Good luck!

  18. None of the mentioned in your post are mine. My language is the oldest in Europe, I think it is basically impossible for a stranger to learn my language to the point where nobody would recognise, or he/she could write without mistakes :).

  20. i know three other languages - one, my mother tongue and the other our national language and some cantonese.

all are really of not that much use on the wider international level.
