Who knows?

The last post got me thinking: where would we be if the Einsteins and Hawkings of this world had to drop out of college because of the huge tuition fees?

  1. We'd be screwed, that's where we'd be, and that's where we're headed.

  2. What? You mean, what if they had been born in Chile?

  5. We are headed there indeed, not a proud fact. It's all about money.

  6. We'd be in a lot of trouble for sure but saying that we wouldn't know we missed out on them if they never existed. Sad there's geniuses not getting their props right now because of tuition fees that we'll never know about or be able to miss their influence.

  9. I'm pretty sure they would've been granted a scholarship. I don't know the rest of you, but i would be chilling in the beach drinking piƱa colada right off a coconut. Naked. Perhaps with a thong. And my nails painted yellow to scare the fish

  11. I agree with D4. You don't necessarily need to be in school to be smart and educated.

  12. Honestly they would probably still ave gotten an education they would just have had to spend a great deal of their early lives paying off student loan debt

  13. Yeah I agree with Aamedor, they would have found away. I think this is the second or third comment on someones blog where I tell them to go read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell to help get over issues like this...and the second or third time I've said I'm going to make a post about it. But now it is happening, damnit!

  14. There are a lot of "What ifs" one can ask in history. What if Hitler got admitted to art school?

  16. Einstein didn't go to college I believe... and there would still be Hawkings in the world because almost ANYONE can come up with a theory that nobody can disprove, but is essentially made up because you don't have the knowledge or resources to know more than you do... look up phlogon (sp) to know what I mean..

  19. Now you got me thinking :)
Well, some people are born so intelligent that they just need schooling to brush up their skills :)

  20. There are tuition fees here in Canada. But I don't know if I should get a student loan or just work my tuition on it. The bottom line is my laziness. I often just do nothing rather than research something about my future.

  21. I wish education was free! Then we could live in a world full of smart people!

  22. There's always a waste of genius everywhere, but then again success isn't always a function of education. There's a list of geniuses who dropped out of college.
still, education should be available to everyone.

  23. @all: I see most of you think that a real genius doesn't need to be educated. I believe you are wrong. That is like saying that van Gogh would be a great painter even if he hadn't had the tools (brushes, etc.) to paint with. You have to give them something to work with.
